One of the after pregnancy dilemma women have is the appearance of an off-color hue in the different parts of their body, known as "stretch marks." These marks are said to be the result of the abrupt stretching of the skin related to the instant growth or rapid weight loss. Affected are not only those who gaved birth to a child, but those related with weight gain, genetic influence and puberty.
Since having stretch marks is a known concern of women, a number of studies have been made to address this issue.
Studies showed that radiotherapy, lazer treatment, and over-the-counter creams and oils can be an aid to this dilemma. Yes, these suggested solutions work, but they don't completely remove stretch marks. It will fade over time though.
But there are some ways to prevent having stretch marks on your body, so read on.
Use skin moisturizer
Using moisturizer keeps your skin more hydrated and more pliable. And when your skin is stretched, going back to its original form will be more receptive.
Mind your diet
Rapid weight loss or weight gain is not highly suggested. Such change will reflect on your skin, like having stretch marks. Therefore, opt for a healthy lifestyle, especially when it comes to food.
Treat the marks on its early stage
As stretch marks started showing on red or purple colors, treat it! Apply vitamin C together with products that contains retinoids or glycolic acid. It will result to higher production of collagen which can be responsible for strengthening the skin and its elasticity.
